Yarraburn Winemakers Dinner - 22nd July
"Altitude and style define the very essence of Yarra Burn wines" and this month there will be plenty of style and a great array of the terrific Yarra Burn wines upstairs in the altitude of the Terrace Restaurant on Pittwater. We are very excited in having the one of the pioneering wineries of Victoria's famed Yarra Valley - Yarra Burn - here for the first time. The Yarra Valley is one of the coolest wine regions on the Australian mainland and the Yarra Burn winery has been producing some of the finest wines from this region for over 30 years.
We are also ecstatic in having Yarra Burn's Senior Winemaker Mark O'Callaghan present his superb wines to us on the night. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Monash University Mark's journey into wine began back in 1994 when he embarked on a Winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University working in various Victorian vineyards & wineries during this time. 1997 saw Mark join the Tintara Winery in McLaren Vale S.A. and then in the next few years afterwards gained more valuable experience in the Northern Hemisphere. Mark then returned to Australia and joined Yarra Burn and in 2003 was promoted to Senior Winemaker. Mark and his family are now very happy to call the Yarra Valley home.
On July 22nd you are in for a treat! Mark will be showing us some absolute beautiful wines starting with his Pinot Noir Chardonnay Pinot Meunier 2006 sparkling on arrival. This is a super sparkling created from the 3 classic French champagne varieties. Following will be their latest Yarra Valley Pinot Gris which is a ripper and then onto their classic Yarra Valley Chardonnay. Red wise you just can't go past their Pinot Noir which has been at the forefront of establishing Yarra Burn's reputation as one of Australia's premier wine producers. Next up is a special vintage of Marks Shiraz Viognier which is supposed to a stunner. This could possibly be the best line-up of wines this year!
Head Chef Dave Bell and his team will produce a great menu to go with these wines and help make this a very special Wine & Food experience. Our Winemakers Dinners are very popular and we have had the booked out sign up on several occasions this year. So please reserve your place early and let Michael, Chris and their team on the floor look after you!
